Director, Membership

Airport Consultants Council

WHO WE ARE:

The Airport Consultants Council (ACC) is a global trade association with 7 full-time remote staff, whose 200+ corporate members are the international consultants that plan, design and construct airport facilities. ACC is the only association that focuses exclusively on the business interests of consulting firms with airport-related technical expertise. ACC informs its members of new trends while promoting fair competition and procurement practices that protect the industry’s bottom line.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

In this multi-faceted membership role, you’ll build a strategic membership infrastructure that provides seamless back-end operations for all membership recruitment, retention and engagement activities. Key among your responsibilities will be developing and executing a robust membership recruitment and onboarding strategy and process, and articulating ACC’s value proposition through development of marketing communication materials, membership presentations, dues renewal communications, and corporate sponsorship materials.

You will actively partner with executive, education, and marketing staff to drive value-added programs and services. You’ll work closely with various teams to generate new non-dues revenue streams, support committees, events, and programs, and contribute to strategic initiatives. Your ability to build and cultivate relationships with staff, members, and partners will be crucial in expanding ACC’s visibility and achieving organizational goals. As a hands-on team player, you’ll be involved in the day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless back-end processes and effective delivery of membership functions.

More specifically you’ll be expected to:

  1. Manage dues invoice generation, renewal and retention processes. Oversee database management (Impexium) including tracking of members, event attendees and speakers.
  • Generate corporate sponsorship packages including attracting, selling and administrating the delivery of the package offerings.
  • Partner with executive, education and marketing staff to help drive value-added programs and services that will generate new non-dues revenue streams.
  • Review ACC’s historical trends of membership and devise a win back and new member campaign targeting specific to architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) companies. Establish an informed budget target for dues revenue.
  • Articulate ACC’s value proposition to key member segments through the development of a clear and concise pitch that highlights the organizations unique niche in the aviation industry, expertise of our consultants, and contributions to airport development.
  • Analyze ACC’s member demographics and sectors to understand the business  challenges facing key member segments.
  • Assess, develop and implement strategies to engage firms at the regional and/or local level.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with staff, members and partners with others from sister associations to network and expand ACC’s visibility.
  1. Stay abreast of industry membership trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to maintain relevance.  Seek out opportunities for professional development to further refine your expertise and broaden your impact.
  1. Conduct regular 1:1 stakeholder interviews with members and prospects to learn how ACC can increase its member value proposition, then strategize about creating value-added programs.

WHAT YOU WON’T BE DOING:

We are aware that association membership roles are varied, so we want to clarify what type of role this isn’t, so that you can make a good career choice. As a trade association with under 200 members, this position is NOT a “digital membership marketing” role typically found in large individual / professional membership associations with thousands of members. Thus, it will not use omni channel marketing skills (e.g. A/B testing or robust social media engagement).

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

You will report to the Vice President, Operations & Regulatory Affairs and manage the Programs and Outreach Coordinator. You will also have dotted line oversight of the Marketing Manager and to ensure effective delivery of marketing and membership functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters degree preferred. Additionally please bring 5+ years of trade association membership experience (i.e. corporate members), preferably within the transportation or construction sectors.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing innovative recruitment, renewal, retention, and engagement strategies. Please be prepared to quantify your achievements with metrics around revenue generation, cost savings, or efficiency improvements.
  • Solid membership operations experience including AMS management, invoicing, sponsorship sales, dues renewals, onboarding, committee and events support, customer service, record keeping, and budgeting.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • A strategic thinker and operational executer
  • An intellectually curious, continuous learner and creative thinker
  • A dynamic relationship builder and member advocate
  • A cross-functional collaborator and hands-on team player
  • An organized, systems thinker and expert project manager

TARGET SALARY:

$130 -150,000

LOCATION:

This is a fully remote role; however, you will need to live within commutable distance to ACC’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA to travel to periodic meetings at your own expense.
