THE ROLE: 

AGC of America is seeking an information technology executive to leverage technology for business process improvement, with the goal of increased operational efficiency and effectiveness. 

Reporting to the COO, this role is a trusted business partner to the executive team, internal departments, and key member partners. Building on the success of the most recent CIO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technological direction of the association. Your mission will be to lead and innovate, ensuring technology strategies align with and propel AGC’s core business goals forward.  

In addition to strategy, you will bring hands-on leadership to our Technology Team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure our technology infrastructure is robust, secure, and agile, capable of meeting the dynamic needs of our association. 

Chief among your long-term priorities will be to guide the association’s digital infrastructure investments to advance AGC’s member engagement and operational needs. In the short-term, these priorities will include: 

  • an AMS database conversion from iMIS to Fonteva (Salesforce) through early 2025; 
  • enhancement of technology tools to facilitate effective transmission of member data from its 89 chapters;  
  • partnership with internal departments to consider upgrades of legacy systems, onboarding of new technologies, and integration of technologies with our new AMS;  
  • oversight of facility-related technology upgrades related to an office relocation in 2025; 
  • and continuous improvement of project management processes to advance and communicate technology priorities between IT staff and internal customer segments.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Strategy and Leadership 

  • Collaboratively set and execute strategic and tactical IT objectives to support the association’s business strategies and member needs. 
  • Offer hands-on leadership, directly engaging with technology projects and team activities to ensure high standards and alignment with business goals. 
  • Continually assess and evolve our technology operations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Maintains policies and procedures related to the technology priorities of the association. 

Team Development and Management 

  • Lead, develop, and expand the internal Technology Team, promoting a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and service excellence. 
  • Directly manage technology staff, offering coaching and personal development opportunities to elevate team capabilities. 
  • Balance in-house and external resources effectively to exceed service goals and optimize resource utilization. 

Technology Infrastructure 

  • Design and oversee the implementation of the association’s IT infrastructure strategy, including data management, cybersecurity, business applications, and digital presence. 
  • Ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of all technology systems and infrastructure. 
  • Lead the Association as it revamps its core CRM/AMS system, including the migration of existing integrations, reports, and automations. 
  • Drive the development of digital infrastructure projects that cater to the association’s needs while ensuring the security and integrity of all systems. 
  • Proactively manage data analytics initiatives, providing critical insights to support organizational objectives. 

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication 

  • Foster strong relationships across all departments to understand technology needs and deliver solutions that enhance operational efficiency and strategic outcomes. 
  • Act as the primary liaison for technology vendors and consultants, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment with association goals. 
  • Lead technology forums and contribute IT insights at association conferences and in newsletters, keeping the organization at the forefront of industry trends. 
  • Coordinates the annual Technology Conference and participates in other AGC-sponsored events and newsletters. 

Budget and Resource Management 

  • Oversee the IT budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for projects, operations, and capital investments. 
  • Maintain a keen awareness of technological advancements, applying insights to drive cost efficiency and operational improvements. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The preferred candidate will demonstrate 10+ years’ in an information technology leadership role leading cross-department technology initiatives, developing and implementing digital/technology strategies, evaluating technology platforms, leading technology selection projects, and managing a high-performing IT staff.  

Candidates with the following additional qualifications will be given priority consideration:   

  • Experience in a nonprofit or membership association with affiliated chapters  
  • Experience with an AMS conversion, including knowledge of Fonteva 
  • Experience on Microsoft technologies for security, automation and data analysis

TARGET COMPENSATION: 

$240,000 + generous 401k contribution + variable annual bonus

This is a hybrid role with 2 days per week in AGC’s Arlington, VA office.
