Education is central to AMDA’s mission of providing up-to-date clinical and management information for medical directors and attending physicians in Long Term Care settings. AMDA delivers its educational content through live programs, self-study activities, and joint sponsorship. Among its educational offerings, AMDA hosts an annual conference, and provides online CME, live webinars and self-study programs. The organization is accredited by ACCME (Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.)

The next Director, Professional Development and Meetings will replace a dynamic incumbent (leaving due to relocation) who masterfully executed her role of helping AMDA members with their lifelong learning needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serving as liaison to the Education Committee, subcommittees, task force, workgroups, and Board of Directors on educational activities
  • Overseeing content development for medical director “core curriculum;” launch of certificate program for attending physicians (late summer 2015); annual conference; and online learning programs
  • Directing ACCME reaccreditation process through 2016
  • Building online library of asynchronous learning and active set of webinars
  • Managing $2.5M budget and developing ideas for new revenue generation channels
  • Supervising staff of six (three managers and three support staff)
  • Collaborating on management decision making as member of AMDA senior staff

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree + senior level experience managing educational programs in a medical association
  • Substantive experience directing ACCME reaccreditation process
  • Experience delivering live meetings, online programs, and live webinars
  • Strong supervisory skills, ability to motivate a team and manage diverse personalities
  • Solid budgetary management experience
  • Strategically minded yet focused on executing details with excellence
  • Ability to speak authoritatively yet persuasively in group settings
  • An inquisitive mind that isn’t afraid to ask the tough questions
  • A “fail-up” attitude that embraces intelligent risk taking

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with an understanding of business dynamics and maximizing profit
  • Experience with meeting planning including site selection, contract negotiation and logistics planning
  • Familiarity with curriculum design
