ALLIANCE FOR AGING RESEARCH
Are you passionate about empowering vulnerable populations? Do you want to help equip older adults with health information so that they can live longer, healthier lives? Are you seeking a role where you can refine and grow your research, communication, and project management skills?
If so, we want to hear from YOU!
WHO WE ARE:
The Alliance for Aging Research is the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the pace of scientific discoveries and their application to vastly improve the universal human experience of aging and health. The Health Education and Advocacy department creates award-winning, high-impact educational materials to improve the health and well-being of older adults and their family caregivers.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Your job is to empower and raise awareness of aging health topics through creation of educational collateral; outreach to patients, caregivers, and clinicians; and partnership development. You’ll do this through a range of activities from research to stakeholder engagement to project management. Never a dull moment!
- You’ll conduct research on a variety of aging topics leveraging journals, subject matter experts and health institutions. The topics range across the aging lifecycle from healthy eating to managing diagnoses of various diseases.
- You’ll use that research to help create educational assets including writing film and video scripts, producing webinars and podcasts, and writing reports and fact sheets.
- You’ll oversee and coordinate project vendors and third parties including designers, expert reviewers, video producers, survey consultants, PR professionals, etc.
- You’ll collaborate with the communications team on marketing strategy of various health education projects and support social media messaging, press releases, etc.
- You’ll also engage with AAR’s 100+ organizational partners to help distribute marketing collateral for their large campaign, Valve Disease Day.
- You’ll occasionally speak at events, webinars, and calls about Alliance programs and serve as a representative on various coalitions.
**We’ll be happy to provide you with a detailed job description and sample marketing collateral during the interview process.
WHAT YOU WON’T BE DOING:
Since we want you to be happy in this role, we’d like to share a couple of areas that you won’t be involved with, in case these are important to your career goals.
- You won’t be engaging in the policy side of AAR’s initiatives
- You won’t be involved with digital marketing / social media execution (that’s handled by the communications department)
- You won’t be working directly with older adults but will be creating resources that are critical in their healthcare journey
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH:
You’ll partner with your supervisor, Lindsay Clarke, Senior Vice President of Education & Advocacy, who has been helping AAR advance its education and advocacy goals for 17 years. Lindsay is a great mentor and will give you plenty of room to work independently. She’ll also empower you to be proactive in your work and tap her whenever you need advice. She also hopes that you’ll have a warm personality and will want to build a great work friendship!
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience
- A passion for public health and an interest in serving the aging population
- Great writing and research skills and some background in creating marketing collateral; for example, video scripts, brochures, webinars or podcasts.
- Excellent project management, organizational and analytical skills
- Terrific interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including AAR’s 100+ nonprofit partners.
TARGET SALARY: $70,000
LOCATION: While you’re welcome to work 100% remotely, if you live within a commutable distance to the DC metro area, that will be helpful since you will need you to attend 3-4 meetings/year, the majority of which will be in the local region.
